(34) 1-Nows, Saturday, July 6, 1996 OBITUARIES. 45 James C. Sharpe area educator, at 49 NORTHAMPTON James C. Sharpe 49, of Dunphy Drive, an educator who taught at Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges, died Thursday at Holyoke Hospital. He was an entrepreneur, and owned and operated several business, including Sharpe Sharpe in Enterprises, an antique dealership Miami, as well as E-Z Kwik Kuntry Deli and the 24-7 Deli, both in Springfield.

Born in Enid, he was' a graduate of Springfield's Commerce High School in 1965. He attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was enrolled in pre-medical studies. He continued the studies at the Worcester Memorial Hospital and Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine. He attained his bachelor's degree in sociology and a master's in public administration from UMass. He was a former member of several local rifle and gun clubs, where he served as an instructor and safety officer.

He was a karate instructor of Tae Kwon-Do. He was a lifetime member of the Miami Chamber of Commerce. He founded Fathers Fight For Children in 1977, and the Americans For the Prevention of AIDS Foundation in 1992. Last year, Sharpe sued a Springfield dentist, whom he claimed gave him AIDS in 1989 because the dentist used an improperly sterilized drill while extracting three teeth. In February, a Hampshire Superior Court jury found the dentist negligent in the maintenance of the equipment used on 1 Sharpe, but ruled that Sharpe and his wife, Frank W.

Owczarski WEST SPRINGFIELD Frank W. Owczarski, 70, of 24 Ferry a 15-year custodian for the town's School Department, died Friday at Providence Hospital in Holyoke. He retired in 1978. He was previously a 25-year employee of the former Lawrence Hat Shop in Chicopee. Born in Chicopee, he lived here for 53 years.

He worshipped at the Holy Mother of the Rosary Polish National Catholic Church in Chicopee, and was an advisory committeeman and president of its cemetery committee. He leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Wanda Lazarz; two sons, Francis of Agawam, and John of Chicopee; a daughter, Mary Boran of Tipp City, Ohio; two brothers, Stephen of Holyoke, and Thaddeus of Chicopee; three sisters, Stella Dowd of Chicopee, Julia Kulik of West Springfield, and Katherine Lucania of Brooklyn; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The funeral is set Monday morning at Lawrence A. Maziarz Mortuary, followed by a service in church. The burial will be at the parish cemetery in Chicopee.

Calling hours are Sunday afternoon and evening, and memorial contributions may be made to the church at 26 Bell Chicopee, 01013. George E. Kachur PUNTA GORDA, Fla. George E. Kachur, 82, of Punta Gorda, a retired railroad switchman, died Tuesday in Tampa.

Born in South Hadley, he served in Europe with a tank battalion in World War II. He lived in Danbury, before moving here 18 years ago. He leaves two brothers, Charles and Stephen of Holyoke, and two sisters, Ann Bakes of Chicopee, and Mary Mykytiuk of South Hadley. Aldor T. Brodeur PALMER Aldor T. Brodeur, 80, fo. merly of 9 Charles Three Rivers, a custodian at Monsanto Chemical Co. of Indian Orchard, Springfield, died Wednesday a Chicopee nursing home.

Antoine-du-Sauveur, Sister of Presentation METHUEN- Sister Antoinedu-Sauveur, also known as Helene Guibault, 82, died Monday at Holy Family Hospital. She was a teacher in Albion, R.I., Augusta, Maine, Northampton, Chicopee, Gardner, and Winchendon. Her last teaching assignment was at Chicopee's Mount Carmel School. She was then in-residence at the St. Rose de Lima Convent, also in Chicopee.

She also taught at Goodwill Industries before retiring to the St. Claire Residence at the Motherhouse here. Born and schooled at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Holyoke, she made her profession of vows with the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary at Quebec, in 1934. She leaves several cousins, including Lorette Tetreault of South Hadley. The funeral was on Wednesday at the Sisters Chapel here, with burial in their cemetery.

died Thursday at home. Born in Waterbury, he was a 1930 graduate of Wilby High School, and a 1932 graduate of St. Thomas's Seminary. He studied philosophy at St. Bernard's College in RochN.Y., theology at St.

Willibald's 'College in Eichstaett, Germany. He was ordained in Germany on June 29, 1937. On Oct. 8, 1937, he was appointed to Assumption Church in Fairfield, and attended the Army Chaplains School in Cambridge, in 1942. He was assigned to the Army Air Forces, and his pastorates were in North Africa, Italy, France, and Germany during World War II.

He was assigned to St. Mary's Church in Bridgeport in 1946, and attended the Graduate School at the Pontifical Institute in Rome, Italy. He was assigned to the office of the secretary of state to the pope at the Vatican. He served as secretary until May 26, 1951, when he returned to St. Justin's Church in Hartford.

He was appointed vice chancellor and secretary to Bishop O'Brien in 1953, and papal chamberlain in 1954. He was the pastor of St. Ann's Church in Hamden, and the administrator at St. Joseph's Church in Bristol. He was the dean of the Bristol Deanery, pastor at St.

Joseph's, and the parish priest-consultor. He retired on Jan. 30, 1986. He was in the Knights of Columbus, and served as state chaplain. He lived with his sister in Waterbury, and spent the past three years at the St.

Joseph's Residence in Enfield. He leaves a brother, the Rev. Francis T. Kerwan, pastor of the Holy Family Church in Enfield; a sister, Marion Kerwan of Waterbury, and a nephew, John Kerwan of Monroe, N.Y. Calling hours at the St.

Joseph's Residence are this afternoon, with a prayer service, and on Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph's Church in Bristol. A parish Mass will be celebrated late Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph's. Michael Kuzner, Midway veteran SPRINGFIELD Michael J. Kuzner, 85, of 2708 Main a Navy veteran of the historic Battle of Midway, died Thursday at the Veterans Administration Center in Leeds, Northampton. He was a machinist at Springfield Products Co. for 20 years, and retired in 1973.

He was previously a seven-year emmployee of Vanguard Co. Born in Holyoke, he attended schools both there and in South Deerfield, and was a longtime resident here. He was a Navy seaman first class in World War II. He served in the Pacific theater aboard the cruiser, USS Tucson, and participated in the crucial Battle of Midway on June 4-6, 1942, the turning point of the war in the Pacific. He was a former member of the Valley Boating and Fishing Club.

His wife, the former Stella Golba, died in 1971. He leaves a sister, Jean Pudlo of Greenfield, and nieces and nephews, including Marilyn Nanartonis and Joseph Barrise of Greenfield. Steele PALMER Ralph H. Steele, 71, of Bourneside Street, Three Rivers, died Friday at home. He was a 33-year employee of C.F. Church Manufacturing Co. of Monson, and retired in 1985.

Born in Wales, he was a longtime Three Rivers resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and served in the Normandy, Rhineland, and Central Europe campaigns in 1944-45. He was awarded the a Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and European and American theater ribbons. He attended the Second Congregational Church. He leaves his wife of 53 years, the former Edna Rouisse; two sons, Robert R.

He was later a journeyman electrician with his family's electrical contracting business.
